Rumble in the Cage 46

Western Canada's premier cage fighting event returned as Rumble in the Cage presented RITC 46 at the South Pavillion, Exhibition Park in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada with 16 exciting bouts including 15 ending in KO or submission including both the main event and co-main event! Rumble in the Cage is a tremendous regional promotion and has sent many of its alumni on to the biggest shows in the world. RITC 46 showcased some of the rising amateur and professional mixed martial artists that will be making headway on an international level very soon.

In the main event, Oregonian Eben Kaneshiro (15-9) defeated hometown fighter Tim "The Chin" Tamaki (12-22) via arm triangle in round one. This bout was expected to be a barnburner and it was as both Kaneshiro and Tamaki engaged in a shootout right from the get go. Kaneshiro hit a front kick to Tamaki's body and the two exchanged strikes in the middle of the cage. Then the fighter clinched up against the cage and worked for position. After a quick break, Kaneshiro threw Tamaki to the mat and jumped on top where he immediately locked up an arm triangle as both fighters were still battling for position. The bigger Kaneshiro held onto the choke and after a few seconds Tamaki was forced to tapout or pass out. It was a slick display of grappling by Kaneshiro as he was able to exert his will and work his game plan to a perfect tee. The quick win stunned the crowd, but Kaneshiro was there to do a job and did it.

In the co-main event, it was another submission that ended the fight as Jason "Flash" Gorny (5-8) defeated Sean "Mercenary" Merkl (1-4) via submission to a side choke in round one. After some initial resistence by Merkl, Gorny was able to land a takedown. Merkl worked a guillotine from his back, but Gorny escaped and held top position. After an odd break by the ref, where both fighters stopped and then immediately jumped back into action, Gorny locked in an arm triangle from the top and got the tapout.
