Event Description
Ring of Combat returned with ROC XXXIX. This event had another full throttle event, as 2 titles were contested for and 5 of 12 bouts ended in either KO or submission, including the main event. ROC continues to be the kingpin of East Coast MMA and its cards are some of the most competitive on the regional circuit throughout North America.

In the main event, ROC Light Heavyweight Champion Tom DeBlass (7-0) defeated Randy Smith (13-10-1) by a first round heel hook submission to retain his title and undefeated streak. The Renzo Gracie Academy protege looked magnificent as he ran through the tough challenger Smith and finished him in under a minute. DeBlass' grappling is exceptional and as soon as the fight went to the mat it heavily favored the champion. This is the third straight fight where DeBlass has fought in a championship bout, and he gets better and better each time he steps into the cage. DeBlass has to be considered the top 205 lb prospect in the Northeast and it probably won't take too many more showings like this for him to be snatched up by the UFC.

In the co-main event, for the vacant Featherweight Title, Jeff Lentz (9-3-1) defeated Giovanni Moljo (4-5) via unanimous decision winning all 5 rounds on each judge's scorecard. The Bellator veteran, Lentz, out wrestled and out struck Moljo and almost every opportunity. It was a resounding victory for the new champion. But give Moljo credit, going into the fight with a .500 record, not many expected Moljo to put up much of fight, but he was game every round and could not be finished. But Lentz was just too much as his skills were better in every department, including cardio where he pushed a pace that Moljo found it hard to keep up with.

In other action, former ROC Welterweight Champion Pete Sell (10-6) got back to his winning ways as he defeated Mitch Whitesel (16-21) via unanimous decision. For Sell, another win and he will be right back in the title hunt at 170 lb.

You won't find a more thrilling card then this one. Be sure to catch all of the action as Ring of Combat presents ROC XXXIX with 2 titles up for grabs, exclusively on pay-per-view at GFL.tv. Watch the superstars of tomorrow compete today.
