In the Main Event of the evening, Chris Algieri (17-0) put his undefeated record on the line against former world title challenger "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis (24-9-2). While many thought that Arnaoutis would be completely over matched, the older veteran proved he was very game from the get go. Arnaoutis did not make it easy for the undefeated prospect. He cut off angles early, double & triple pumped the jab and kept away using great footwork to make a case for some of the earlier rounds.
As the fight went on Arnaoutis started to fade allowing the younger Algieri just started notching clear round after round. Algieri proved a lot against Arnaoutis while the game veteran Arnaoutis proved he still had something to offer the boxing world as a trial horse. After 10 rounds of action the fight went to the scorecards. The judges scorecards read 99-91 & 98-92 x 2 for your winner via Unanimous Decision Chris Algieri.
Alan Gotay (6-0) kept his undefeated record alive against Michael Doyle (1-3) over the course of 6 rounds. Gotay, the noticeably bigger man, imposed his will on Doyle. Doyle seemed to have trouble making up for the size differential but put on a game effort throughout the entire 6 rounds. After the final bell, the judges totals read 60-55 & 58-56 x 2 for you winner via Unanimous Decision Alan Gotay.
In a mild upset Jonathan "Little Big Man" Cuba (7-5-1) stopped fan favorite Anthony Karperis (4-2). Cuba seemed to flood Karperis with pressure from the opening bell. Karperis showed he was game by showing no quit while Cuba's onslaught grew. In the 5th round, Cuba started landing at will with no answer from Karperis causing the referee to call a halt to the action at the 1:55 mark of round 5.
Vincenzo D'Angelo (1-0) & Michael Mitchell (1-2-1) took part in an all action affair. Both men traded shots non stop on the inside throughout the fight with neither man wilting. Mid way through the 2nd round it seemed D'Angelo was landing the harder shots as Mitchell seemed to start gassing. Even though he was tired Mitchell continued to trade but was seemingly slightly out worked each round until the final bell. After the final bell, the judges scored the bout 40-36 & 39-37 x 2 in favor of your winner via Unanimous Decision Vincenzo D'Angelo!
In the opening bout Wendy Toussaint (1-0) proved to be too much for his opponent On'Rey Towns (0-2). From the very start Towns seemed befuddled by Toussaint's upper body movement. This allowed Toussaint to box to a very easy decision. After the final bell, the judges scored the fight 40-36 across the board for your winner via Unanimous Decision Wendy Toussaint.
