Event Description

The August 17 episode of "IZW Adrenaline" was another explosive night of action as several matches came to a head that have been simmering for weeks while other feuds took on unexpected twists. It was also "Strength for Striker" in which 100% of the proceeds from the show went to IZW Superstar Striker to help him pay for his medical bills after a freak accident earlier this year left him with severe burns over his body. The crowd at the Impact Arena was vocal the boisterous the whole night which really added an element to the show that fans across the globe can watch on video on demand as IZW delivered another stacked 2-hour broadcast available on GFL.tv of the premier Independent wrestling in North America.

Before anything began in the ring, one of the top play-by-play men in the business, Big DA (@IZWBigDA), made his surprising return to the IZW booth as he and CM Burnham were locked and loaded to deliver a great night of commentary. Big DA hasn't missed a step in his six-month absence as he was back with his quick wit and insightful observation that went hand in hand with Burnham's wrestling knowledge that gave fans watching and listening on GFL.tv a nice 1-2 punch from the announcers' booth.

The much anticipated confrontation between Double D (@IZWDoubleD) and Brandon Bishop (@BISHOPACW) started off the in ring action. Bishop tried to form a coalition with D as he was motivated by taking Johnny Z out once again. But Double D, wanted no part of the alliance. D still remembered Bishop's past history and wasn't going to let himself be used as a patsy and be stabbed in the back again from someone he trusted. D was hot and called out Bishop's heart and the sacrifices he made for IZW and wasn't too keen on Bishop showing up in his words "once a year". Double D wanted a match right then and there. Bishop wanted a fight too, but countered with challenging D to a bout at "Redemption" on September 14. Madame Commissioner Erica (@Lady_Of_Impact) came out and as is her right as Commissioner booked the match for "Redemption" between D and Bishop. She also booked a match for later that night where DD and BB would face Impact Elite: IZW Champion Johnny Z (@NBL_JohnnyZ) & The Convict. Thank you Erica!

In the opening bout, "Big Business" Damon Windsor (@DamonWindsor) took on "Bad" Brad Michaels (@OldSchool_Brad) for the first time ever. Michaels had been a mentor to sorts of Windsor's back when Windsor was breaking in to the business, but that was past history as these two went at it right from the get-go. Windsor snatched an arm ringer turned it into a hammerlock as Michaels got a rope break. Michaels fired back with lefts and rights but was stopped dead in his tracks with a huge punch by Windsor that sent Michaels careening backwards. Windsor followed up with three elbows and another big punch that knocked Michaels out of the ring. When action resumed, Michaels countered a power bomb with a double knee followed by a chin buster that had Windsor dazed. In a nice series of moves, Windsor connected with a flying shoulder block, clothesline and went for a sidewalk slam, but Michaels squirmed out and connected with a super kick to Windsor's gut, dropping the big man immediately. Michaels leveraged Windsor into a piledriver attempt, but Windsor blocked it and hit a back body drop and made good on his sidewalk slam this time. Windsor finished Michaels with a flying elbow drop from the top rope. The impact of Windsor's elbow on Michaels' chest offered a sickening thud as it ended the night of the "CEO of the OSA".

In a #1 Contender's Match for the Queen's Crown, "Megastar" Angel Blue (@AngelBlue0830) wrestled Miss Diss Lexia (@missdiss_lexia). Blue and MDL went hold for hold in the early going, arm ringers, side headlocks, and a bit of chain wrestling on the mat that culminated with a show of mutual respect by a handshake. When action resumed, Blue connected with several arm drags, hit a butt bump in the corner followed by a neck breaker that dropped the bigger Miss Diss Lexia. But MDL would not let herself go out that easy as she kicked out of multiple pin attempts. Moments later, MDL hit a clothesline, back elbow and drop kick. Blue blocked a butterfly suplex and hit a chicken wing pedigree that put MDL's lights out for good as Blue became the #1 Contender.

In a bout that was made earlier in the night, Impact Elite (Johnny Z and The Convict) took on Double D and Brandon Bishop in tag team action. Convict and Bishop squared off first. Bishop had no luck getting The Convict off of his feet with any sort of offense and tagged in Double D. D didn't fare any better than Bishop as The Convict was intent on punishing Double D. Z tagged in and hit D with two snap suplexes. Z whipped D into the ropes and when Double D shot back he flipped over Z's shoulders as he planted a knee right to Johnny Z's jaw followed by an enziguri kick that dropped the champion. Bishop tagged himself in and walked across the second rope like a cat to deliver a flying dagger to the face of Z. Bishop connected with a back breaker and a second rope drop kick where Bishop took an awkward fall and hurt his knee. This gave Z time to tag in The Convict who dropped Bishop on his back with a thunderous power slam. Z tagged back in but Bishop caught him shooting off the ropes with a Thesz press as Bishop pummeled away at Johnny Z's face. D tagged himself in and connected with blood-curdling chops in the corner but missed with a Force Chop as Z tagged in The Convict. Convict and D battled back and forth with Convict being succinct and violent with his strikes while Double D did everything he could just to survive and find that one, small opening in The Convict's armor. D found it when he countered Convict with a drop kick that dropped the King of the Yard, but Z being the intellectual grappler that he is, rushed over to Bishop and threw him into the steel steps. As Bishop lay injured on the concrete, D had nobody to tag in! Z tagged back in but it didn't take too long for him to be eating knees from Double D in the corner. Convict hit a big splash moments later but D kicked out. Later, D hit a springboard DDT onto Z that finally slowed the momentum of Impact Elite. D went for a high crossbody on to Z, but The Convict intervened as he throttled the ref and then caught D midair. Bishop got involved in the mix by drop kicking D and The Convict from the top rope which sent all three men down like a bag of potatoes. DD and BB then double clotheslined Convict out of the ring and launched themselves off of two different top ropes where they delivered double ax handles to The Convict's head simultaneously. Next, Z did a suicide dive over the top rope as he connected with all three wrestlers down below in the move of the night! Z dragged DD back into the ring and set up for the Big Boot in the corner, but Damon Windsor rushed down to the ring and gave Z a Detonator (choke slam). D finished off the task at hand by giving Z a high crossbody and picking up the 1-2-3 in this wild, no disqualification match.

Striker (@strikerokb) returned to IZW and gave an impassioned recounting about his injuries suffered in May. Striker was back to his normal self, having almost recovered 100% after he was stuck a near fatal blow in a lawn mower accident in which the lawn mower blew up and sent him skyrocketing up in the air where he woke up in the hospital a day later after having suffered severe burns. Angel Camacho came out and interrupted Striker's speech. The two stood nose to nose jawing at each other until IZW Impact Division Champion Drake Gallows (@DrakeBmbulmer) ran down to the ring and throttled Camacho. Gallows had Camacho on the ropes and looked for his finisher, the Emo Killer (modified F5) but Camacho broke free and hot-tailed it out of the ring.

Gallows stayed in the ring as his match with "The Image of War" Kevin Morgan (@TheImageofWar) was up next. Morgan put Gallows on the mat early and often with forearms to the back, punches to the face and kicks to the ribs. Gallows attempted a comeback but had it quickly squashed by a big boot out of the corner by Morgan. Morgan connected with another big boot and a body slam. Morgan continued to thrash Gallows with knees to the ribcage and boots to the face. Morgan tossed Gallows over the top rope down onto the padded concrete outside of the ring with no problem as he made clear who was in charge. Finally, Gallows got in some meaningful offense by bouncing Morgan's throat off the top rope and jumping back into the ring to land a perfect top rope clothesline, a drop kick and a modified rolling thunder. Gallows missed big on a flying elbow from the top rope. Morgan made Gallows pay with a Detonator, but instead of going for the pin, Morgan got the Impact Division belt and bashed Gallows multiple times in the head with it. The ref called for an immediate DQ, making Gallows the winner of the match, but you wouldn't know that by what the ring looked like afterwards, with Gallows splattered out in the middle barely conscious as Morgan strolled up the ramp without a mark on him.

In the main event, IZW Tag Team Champions, What Wrestling Should Be: "Larger Than Life" Jermaine Johnson (@JermaineAboutME) & "Lights Out" Jordan Jacobs (@JacobsLightsOut) took on Team Bull: The Bronze Bull (@BronzeBull_AN) & "The Brass Bull" Bobby Starr (@thegods_bs) in a crucial match. If Team Bull won, they would receive a title shot against WWSB at "Redemption" on September 14. WWSB took off like two bats out of hell as they smothered TB with their aggression and had the Bulls on the ropes early. But Team Bull fought back and tossed WWSB out of the ring. The Bulls followed them outside of the ring where they continued to punish WWSB. Finally, the action resumed in the ring where in the corner, The Bronze Bull landed haymaker after haymaker to Johnson's face as it was preordained from "the gods". Starr tagged in and continued the onslaught, first with a short clothesline and then with a key lock that put tremendous pressure on Johnson's shoulder and elbow. The Bronze Bull tagged in again and isolated Johnson's other arm with the same key lock submission move. Starr tagged in next and in a nice bit of team work, Starr whipped Bull into Johnson where he connected with a clothesline and then Bull did the same for Starr who blasted Johnson with his patented jumping clothesline. Later, Johnson was able to escape from the clutches of Team Bull when he made Starr miss with a punch and flung him into the ropes discombobulating Starr for a brief moment which allowed Johnson to tag in a fresh Jacobs. Jacobs connected with a running double knee in the corner. It was now time for WWSB to give TM a bit of their own medicine as Jacobs and Johnson tagged in and out as they kept up the attack on Starr with a fresh man at all times. Jacobs went for another running double knee but missed as Starr was able to tag in Bull who knocked Jacobs all around the ring like a Whac-A-Mole game. Bull connected with a huge power slam and running knee next. Jacobs still showed a lot of heart as he was able to tag in Johnson moments later in a last ditch effort. Johnson sliced Bull down with a series of chops to the midsection and skull area. Jacobs tagged back in and applied an armbar on The Bronze Bull, which he had used earlier in the match as Jacobs looked to hyper-extend Bull's elbow thereby negating one of his biggest weapons, his left arm. Jacobs transitioned to a triangle choke when Bull tried to scramble out of the hold. Bull did indeed power out of the move with a Northern Lights suplex. But the move took all Bull had and Jacobs was able to tag in Johnson. As Johnson went for a front face lock, he was hoisted up in the air for a reverse atomic drop and a big knee in successive moves. Bull raised Johnson up for a Greetings From Mt. Olympus, but Johnson somehow managed to counter the move as he drove Bull's head into the canvas with a modified face buster. Johnson and Jacobs continued to assault The Bronze Bull by working over his midsection, rib cage, face and skull. Bull continued to look for a way out of the situation and did when he finally hit Johnson with a spinebuster. Bull tagged Starr in who gave Johnson dozens of hammer fists in a crude, caveman like display of violence and brutality. Jacobs tried to intervene but was the victim of a drop toe hold by Starr as Jacobs ended up face first in Johnson's nether region. Starr then connected with another flying clothesline in the corner on both members of WWSB. The Bronze Bull got involved as he hit Johnson with a spear as Starr did likewise to Jacobs. Team Bull then connected with a pair of discuss punches and each went for a Greetings From Mt. Olympus but when WWSB defended that finisher, TB switched it up to their submission finishers, the Boston Crab and half Boston Crab, as they twisted Johnson and Jacobs up into a knot and got the tapout victory, earning a title show in less than a month at "Redemption".
