The Warriors Cup XII delivered a great night of standup combat proving that Muay Thai is very alive and thriving in the United States. The 15-bout had a mixture of both professional and amateur fights and gave the fans action every second of every fight. It was also a historical night as it was the debut of professional full rules (including elbows) Muay Thai in New Jersey. The fighters did not disappoint.
In the main event, Liam "The Hitman" Harrison defeated Justin Greskiewicz by TKO in Round 2 to win the 147 lb WBC International Muay Thai Title. Harrison lived up to his moniker as "The Hitman" delivering punishment throughout the bout including powerful leg kicks that were easily picked up on the house microphones and heavy-fisted punches. Greskiewicz was a game opponent, but could not take any more punishment as the referee called a halt to the fight after Harrison delivered a short left hook that dropped Greskiewicz at the end of round two. Greskiewicz was still dazed and not fully recovered going into the rest period and the referee stopped the fight. With the victory, the Englishman Harrison wins the vacant championship and if this fight is any indication, he will hold on to the title for a long time. In the co-main event, Rami Ibrahim defeated Mark DeLuca in a WBC Lightweight Elimination bout after a unanimous decision after five great rounds. Both Ibrahim and DeLuca showed why they were in a #1 Contender's Match as they both dug into each other with vicious strikes that would have stopped lesser fighters. But it was Ibrahim who landed the cleaner shots during the fight and winning every round on two judges' scorecards that proved to be the difference. In another great bout Brett Hlavacek, fighting out of New York City, defeated Marcus Fisher of Pittsburgh, PA by majority decision after five rounds in a super middleweight (165 lb) bout. Hlavacek being the semi-local had the crowd with him for every punch and kick he landed and gave the Tri-state area fans something to be proud of. If you love action-packed striking, The Warriors Cup XII is your type of event. Watch all of the punches, kicks, knees and elbows as these warriors mix it up with one another and leave everything in the ring. Order this event exclusively at GFL.tv. |
