Event Videos and Bouts
Muay Thai was center stage at the Resorts World Casino as TaKe-On Productions presented TaKe On Muay Thai XIX, a 15-bout full contact Muay Thai event at the first ever casino in New York City. The card featured at hotly anticipated main event and co-main event in the professional ranks with some of the key figures in the rising sport.
In the main event, Wayne Barrett defeated Strahinja Ivanovic via verbal submission do to strikes in the second round. Barrett was accurate with his punches and kicks landing to Ivanovic's body, head and legs as Barrett continued to apply the pressure and dominate the center of the ring. Barrett was dominant in exchanges as he had the range and would throw and land strikes while Ivanovic could only absorb the strikes for much of the fight. Near the end of the second round, Barrett landed a series of body punches that hurt Ivanovic, and Barrett kept up the barrage as he had Ivanovic cornered. After a quick break after some clinch work, Barrett went back on the attack landing solid overhand rights. Ivanovic turned his head and waved the fight off as the ref jumped in between the fighters. It was surprising that Ivanovic quit seemingly out of nowhere, but the previous torrent of body shots by the bigger Barrett could have broken a rib, as the right hands to the head were solid, but Ivanovic was in no danger of being knocked out when he called off the fight.
In the co-main event, Sean Fagan retained his TaKe-On 145 lb title with a grueling majority decision after five rounds over tough challenger Omar Estevez. Fagan landed some nice combinations in the fight, but could not stop Estevez who seemed almost like the Terminator in his pain tolerance as he stayed in front of Fagan all night and made him work harder than he's ever had to work in a fight. In the fifth and deciding round, Fagan came out hard on the attack landing punches and front kicks as he backed Estevez up in the corner. Fagan continued to be the aggressor as after some brief clinch work, Fagan again was able to put Estevez on his heels. Estevez landed some leg kicks but they did little to stop Fagan's attack as there was not a lot of power behind them as Estevez was still backing up. It was a solid win for Fagan who retains his title and builds on his momentum as one of the blue chip prospects of TaKe-On. Even in defeat, Estevez continued to fight until the very end and was a game opponent for all five rounds.
If you love the art of striking, there is no better iPPV for you to order than TaKe On Muay Thai XIX. Take-On Productions always puts on great shows and this event was another feather in the cap of the East Coast kingpin of Muay Thai. Order now.
