Event Description

Lion Fight Promotions delivered one of the finest Muay Thai events of the year with Battle in the Desert. The show took place in the shadows of the Fight Capitol of the World, at the Primm Valley Casino Resorts in Primm, Nevada. The 12-bout highlight reel with close to FIVE HOURS of combat, presented some top-notch striking and continued to build on the momentum that Muay Thai has garnered by being broadcast on the GFL Combat Sports Network. The art of the eight limbs was in full force as punches, elbows, kicks and knees where flying, landing and doing damage all night.

In the main event, a battle of multi-time Muay Thai Champions saw Sakmongkol Zingano (Thailand) defeat Cosmo Alexandre (Brazil) after a unanimous decision in the 155 lb division that left the crowd in disbelief. The majority of the bout was dominated by Alexandre including several knockdowns he delivered to Zingano. The bloodied and defeated-looking Zingano hung his head in the corner as the decision was announced and was as surprised as anyone after hearing he was the victor. To Alexandre's credit, anyone watching the fight saw that he was dominant throughout the fight, and a showing like this against a champion the level of Zingano should bode well for Alexandre's future. For Zingano, he walked away with a victory that was probably based more on his name than what he did in the ring, but sometimes a champion gets the benefit of the doubt.

In the co-main event, Ky Hollenbeck defeated Simon Chu by unanimous decision after five rounds to retain his WBC Muay Thai Championship. It was a great showing by Hollenbeck as he dominated the whole fight and beat a tough fighter in Chu. For the San Franciscan Hollenbeck, he showed why he is one of the top American Muay Thai fighters in the world with this victory. San Francisco has long been the mecca of Muay Thai in America and Hollenbeck continues that strong tradition today.

Lion Fight Productions outdid itself with this show. If you love action-packed striking, Battle in the Desert is your type of event. Watch all of the punches, kicks, knees and elbows as these warriors mix it up in an event that lasts almost FIVE HOURS! Order this event exclusively at GFL.tv.
