Event Description
Xtreme Combat made its successful debut as it presented Pains in the Nek a 12-bout pro/am card emanating from St. Johnsbury, Vermont. This event featured the top up and combing prospects inside the New England area. Xtreme Combat proved it is the premier MMA organization in the Green Mountain State with a solid card highlighted by a main event and co-main event that were hard fought close contests.

In the main event, Taylor Trahan (2-0) from Vermont defeated Jamir Toledo (1-1) via split decision after a 3 round war in the professional ranks. It was a close fight but in round 3, Trahan showed that he deserved the win by taking Toledo down and keeping him there for most of the round. From the mat, Trahan displayed a great ground game going for submissions as well as landing several strikes to Toledo and not allowing Toledo to mount a comeback. It was a solid win for Trahan who has now won 5 in a row (including amateur fights) and showed that he is a rising fighter in the New England area. Toledo did a great job in his own right and withstood Trahan's multiple and varied submission attacks throughout the bout where others might have gotten caught and tapped, Toledo fought on and deserves credit for that.

In the co-main event, Brett Trahan (6-2) defeated Domenic Ruccolo (3-1) via split decision in another close fight to win the Amateur Welterweight Title after 5 rounds. Trahan was usually the aggressor on the bout especially in the fifth and final round as he tried to set up several chokes to catch Ruccolo. But Ruccolo had scouted Trahan well and fought out of every bad position and had Trahan in a few compromising spots as well. A chess match on the ground at times, Ruccolo liked to keep top position and control while Trahan worked from the bottom going for submissions. This bout was a bit closer than the main event, and maybe the promoters of Xtreme Combat will see fit to have a rematch which should be a barnburner just like this one.

You won't find more BANG for your buck so order this thrilling event. Be sure to catch all of the action now as Xtreme Combat presents Pains in the Nek including a championship bout in the welterweight division on pay-per-view exclusively at GFL.tv.
