XCW Fighting Championship 53 - Devastation

Central Canada's premier cage fighting event returns on January 19 as Xtreme Cage Wars (XCW) presents XCW Fighting Championship 53 - Devastation at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton, SK, Canada. Devastation will be jam packed with exciting fights as XCW is a breeding ground for up and coming Canadian blue chip prospects ready to make a name for themselves on a global level.

In the main event for the XCW Lightweight Championship, Champion Dauda Keita (3-0) battles Ryan Starkell (3-1) and looks to defend his title for the first time in 2012. Keita won the belt in 2012 and has already defended it once, all in impressive order as Keita has never had a fight go to decision stopping all of his opponents via TKO or submission. Keita used to fight at weltwerweight so he is usually the stronger fighter in the cage and with his skillset, is a tough challenge for anyone on the regional scene. His challenger Starkell comes into the fight on a 2-fight win streak both by stoppages and he too has never went the distance. This bout promises to be a barnburner and tear the roof off of the Gallagher Centre as both fighters have a rabid fanbase. Don�¢??t blink as this fight could end in an instant as both Keita and Starkell look for the finish constantly.

In one co-main event, Evander Masuskapoe (4-4-1) battles Denny Heathen (2-2) for the vacant Middleweight Championship. Masaskapoe is one of the linchpins of Xtreme Cage Wars and has KO power in both hands. He's one of the most exciting fighters on the scene and throws every punch with bad intentions looking to end the night in a flurry of fists. Heathen is a crowd favorite who fights with a high risk/high reward style. This is a huge opportunity for Heathen who hails from Saskatchewan and will be fighting in front of a huge hometown crowd.

In the co-main event, Matthew Fiddler (3-1) fights Dillon Adam (1-6) in a Bantamweight Title Fight. Fiddler comes into the bout as champion, which he won in at the end of 2012 by defeating Adam with a guillotine submission choke in round one. Fiddler is an expert grappler and has won all three of his victories via tapout in the first round. Expect him to look for a takedown early and often and try to get the fight down to the mat. Adam gets his shot at revenge with this match as the two square off once again. Adam has a lot of incentive as he can defeat a fighter who already beat him, plus walk away with gold if he scores the win.
