Carmello Marerro is the new WCC heavyweight champion after forcing Steven Banks to submit to a neck crank in the second round. Marerro used his superb wrestling to overpower Banks and eventually took his back.
The undercard was filled with exciting back and forth bouts, as two of the remaining fights were ruled a split decision. In the night's first contest, Andy Beil locked in a heel hook on James Rivers forcing his opponent to tap just 38 seconds into round two.
Dave Versuk and Jose De La Rosa Jr. were up next and went back and forth with both men coming very close to ending the fight via submission. Round two was a round you do not want miss. Both fighters landed on each other before Versuk took control near the end of the round. De La Rosa came back strong in the third, but it was Versuk who turned it up a notch at the end landing some knees to close out the bout.
Chris Pintado took on Steve Wilson next and basically controlled the action for the entire bout on his way to a unanimous decision victory. Owen Brieninger squeaked out a split decision win against Harry Dickey in a bout that had a little bit of everything. Brieninger was saved by the bell in round two as Dickey locked in a tight standing guillotine choke, but couldn't quite get the finish.
Terrill Leach was forced to tap out due an injury he sustained to his ribs while attempting to suplex Pat Russo. Hopefully the injury wasn't significant and Leach will be back in the cage soon.
George Glykas locked in a standing guillotine that was so tight that his opponent Boris Rakita's legs began to shake uncontrollably. Glykas was far too powerful for Rakita, this is a prospect that you want to keep your eyes on.
Scott Heckman was the night's second winner due to an injury as Dwayne Shelton suffered what seemed to be a rib injury after being slammed to the canvas by Shelton. That was all she wrote as Shelton quickly tapped before Heckman could land any punches.
These results were verified by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission.
