Event Videos and Bouts
V3 Fights, Memphis, Tennessee's top MMA organization, returns to GFL.tv on January 18 with "Johnson VS Johnson" from the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts. The mega card is headlined by a professional lightweight scrap featuring two of the top 155 lb fighters in the region.
In the main event, Wade "The Hammer" Johnson (5-0) fights "Relentless" Craig Johnson (5-1). Wade Johnson has never been to a decision as he has stopped all of his opponents, most in the first round. Wade brings a ruthless all-around game into the cage that features top level striking and wrestling/grappling. Look for Wade to try and turn the fight into a striking battle as he loves to throw haymakers. Craig Johnson brings a collegiate wrestling pedigree into the cage and has previously fought at middleweight so he should be the stronger man when the door closes. Craig will look to get this fight to the ground where Craig can use his vicious ground and pound. His lone defeat was by split decision and a controversial one at that. If Craig can get Wade on his back this fight could turn out to be one-sided very quickly. If on the other hand, Wade can turn this fight into a brawl, he will be at his best.
In the co-main event, Thomas Gifford (8-4) fights Ben Brewer (5-1) in a welterweight showdown. Gifford is a tough matchup for anyone, standing at 6'1", he is a great striker and knows how to land from a distance without taking damage. But Gifford's real bread and butter is using his long limbs to out grapple his opponents as all 8 of his victories have come via tapout. Brewer is on a 4-fight winning streak with 3 submission wins of his own in that span. Brewer loves to come forward and initiate the action so this fight looks to be nonstop action.
Justin Frazier (7-1) and Robert Neal (2-1) lock horns in a heavyweight battle. Frazier is an accomplished kickboxer and all around striker and 6 of his wins have come via KO/TKO. Frazier is a stocky heavyweight that is always looking to do severe damage with whatever strike he throws. Frazier is also proficient on the ground where he uses his weight and positioning to fight from the top position. Neal has never been out of the first round as his fights are always explosive. Look for Neal to meet Frazier head up on the striking game. If the fight goes to the ground, Neal will have to stay off his back and get back to his feet where he can let his hands go quickly.
Ryan Banks (3-0) fight Adrian Miles (14-5) in a middleweight tilt. Banks is a blue chip prospect in the 185 lb division and has shown why as he has manhandled his opposition ending every fight in the first round via KO. Miles will look to derail the hype train for Banks as soon as the cage closes. Miles is a veteran to Southern MMA, and comes out of a solid camp led by UFC vet Alan Belcher. Miles is currently riding a 6-fight win streak and these two could very easily have Fight of the Night. Don't blink!
