Ultimate Reno Combat 37 (Rebroadcast)

Northern Nevada's premier cage fighting event returned as Ultimate Reno Combat 37 tore down the house at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. Voted the #1 Amateur MMA Event in the Nation, URC always showcases the top up and coming fighters from around Nevada, California and the greater Southwest. URC 37 was no different as the 12-bout card featured some of the very best in the amateur ranks competing in the cage where Blood Happens!

In the main event, with the URC Lightweight Title on the line, Champion Brandon Ricetti (6-2) defeated formerly undefeated fighter Juan Torres (4-1) via rear naked choke in round one. Ricetti is a grappling wizard with 3 previous wins coming via tapout. This win makes 4 wins via submission as Ricetti and the challenger Torres both exhibiting some excellent ground fighting until Ricetti transitioned to Torres' back and sunk in the fight ending choke.

In the co-main event, Sinjen Smith (3-0) defeated Beto Torres (2-1) via unanimous decision in a lightweight tussle. Smith controlled the majority of the fight with the late replacement Torres doing his best to keep up with Smith's pace. Smith landed some solid takedowns throughout the bout and was able to control the action on the mat and out wrestle Torres who showed up and performed valiantly with such short notice to prepare. For Smith, he stays undefeated and moves up the ladder at URC as he looks to be a viable challenger to Ricetti for the title. Hopefully Torres gets another shot in URC as he showed promise in the cage and you never know how he could have performed if he had more time to prepare.
