Ultimate Reno Combat 30 - Thirty

Reno, Nevada - The Grand Theater inside the Grand Sierra Resort played host to Rick Collup's Ultimate Reno Combat 30 last night. The 30th event for this local promotion featured 8 hard-hitting MMA Cage fights, including a title fight in the bantamweight division, which was won by Radames Garcia.

In a light heavyweight match, Eddie Bledsoe (0-1) from Riverbank California's Family First MMA took on Matthew Brumer making his debut for 9 Diamonds Kickboxing. The fight went to ground immediately as Brumer took Bledsoe down and knocked him out in 20 seconds, winning "Knockout if the Night".

On the heels of this match was a lightweight bout between Jose Ayala (5-3) representing the Reno Academy of Combat and Vacaville's Anthony Pazmino (0-1) representing Dan Stell's BBDC Fight Team. Pazmino was on Ayala from the start dominating for the first 2 minutes of the round, with Ayala displaying some excellent defense. Ayala came back in the final minute. Round 2 started out as standup for the first minute before it went to ground. With Ayala securing a mount in the final minute which Pazmino shrugged off and Ayala defended himself via triangle. Ayala won via TKO to doctor stoppage between rounds, yet the fight was a testament to Pazmino's heart and skill as he fought a great fight against a tough opponent.

The evening's sixth fight was a debut between Brandon Sells of Sektion 8 Fight Team and Anthony Hernandez (1-0) for Morrissey's Elite Fight Team. Hernandez quickly took Sells to ground and dominated him for most of the round. In round 2 Hernandez took Sells down and launched a ground and pound, winning by TKO at 33 seconds.

The main event was sponsored by Blood Happens for the vacant Ultimate Reno Combat bantamweight Title as Andrey Mitchell (4-2-1) of Sacramento's Havuk Skwod squared off against Radames Garcia (5-1) Cung Le AKA of Santa Clara, California. Mitchell landed some powerful kicks and punches and the two grappled against the cage and slammed Mitchell to the mat. Garcia went for a takedown and kept Mitchell on the mat for the remainder of the round. Round 2 went to ground at the midpoint as Mitchell went for a takedown and Garcia reversed him in more or less a repeat of the first round as was round 3 and 4. In the final round both fighters kept it to stand up, exchanging punches until the final 30 seconds when Garcia took Mitchell down and the fight went to the judges who awarded the title to Garcia via split-decision.

Ultimate Reno Combat 31 is scheduled for February 17th, 2012 at the Grand Sierra Resort.
