Sportfight X returned with a loaded card featuring 8 bouts coming from the North Atlanta Trade Center in Norcross, Georgia. Sportfight X has quickly become "Southeastern MMA's Ultimate Proving Ground" because of high octane cards like this show. The fighters set a dizzying pace from the first fight until the last and gave the fans in attendance and watching online a great night of action from start to finish.
In the main event, Dave Vitkay (10-10-1) defeated Roger "The Leprechaun" Carroll (9-6) by unanimous decision. Vitkay performed brilliantly throughout the fight. In round one he was able to get a takedown, a couple submission attempts including catching a guillotine and then finally a beautiful sweep on Carroll at the end of the first. In round two it was more dominance by Vitkay. In a round that was mostly grappling Carroll improved from the first, landing a solid elbow but it was Vitkay who turned the tide with another sweep and delivered his own strikes from the mount that gave him the round. Round three would be more of the same as Vikay got the better of Carroll only this time in the standup. For Vitkay who came off of a disappointing draw in his last fight this has to feel great. Defeating a tough opponent like Carroll gets Vitkay back on the right track. In the co-main event, Bellator veteran Steve Ledbetter (8-3) defeated Joe "Hitman" Elmore (4-4), after a grueling three round war, via unanimous decision in a battle of up and coming lightweights. The fighters put on a grappling clinic featuring varying submission attempts along with some ground and pound added for good measure. There was blood early on after Elmore landed an elbow to Ledbetter's scalp that continued through the whole fight. Both fighters showed something in this bout and proved they are two rising prospects in the South. For Ledbetter, a well-earned victory over a tough opponent sets him up for another possible shot with Bellator and for Elmore it proves that he is one of the toughest fighters in the world with a record of .500. Don't miss this full throttle card featuring fighters from around the Dirty South!
