School of Hard Knocks 20: Medicine Hat

Western Canada's top MMA promotion returns as Hard Knocks Fighting Championship presents School of Hard Knocks 20 Medicine Hat, February 24 at the Cypress Centre Auditorium. The action packed 10-bout pro/am card features 2 titles up for grabs and many of the top up and coming superstars of the Great White North. HKFC is the top proving ground for rising prospects in Western Canada and the 20th installment promises to deliver great fights once again.

In the main event, Matt Goehr (2-1) takes on Barrett Thompson (3-1) for the HKFC 185 lb amateur title. Goehr trains out of Underground Training Centre in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The hometown hero looks to prove that he is the top middleweight in the organization with a victory over the tough Thompson who trains at LA Warriors in Saskatoon. Goehr is a well-rounded fighter with strong wrestling and grappling and has started to add a potent striking game. For Thompson, this will be a tough test, but one he is ready for as his grappling and striking is top notch as well. Expect fireworks from these two either on their feet or on the ground as both men will look to end the fight with an exclamation point and win championship gold.

In co-main event, Fotis Lambiris (2-0) from the Underground Training Centre fights Scott MacDonald (3-0) from Canuckles MMA for the HKFC 155 lb amateur title. This bout has all the makings of fight of the night as these two lightweights are both undefeated and for one of them, they will continue their perfect record and win a championship all in one night. Lambiris is an experienced grappler while MacDonald has never shied away from the standup. Whoever is able to dictate where the fight goes will have a huge advantage. Expect the fight to end with a KO or submission.
