Ring of Combat XLVI
Ring of Combat returned with "Ring of Combat XLVI" at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey and streaming on the GFL Combat Sports Network. ROC XLVI was highlighted by a heavyweight title fight in this 10-bout professional card which saw 6 stoppages. ROC continues to be the linchpin of East Coast MMA and reasserts its dominance as the top dog in the Tri-State area.
In the main event, ROC Heavyweight Champion Brendan "Brutal" Barrett (9-5-1) defeated Miodrag Petkovic (20-17-1) via KO in round one to retain his title in spectacular fashion. This makes 5 wins in a row for Barrett who is a beast every time he steps into the cage. In round one, Barrett caught a kick and landed a right hand that dropped Petkovic. Barrett landed more strikes from the half guard position until he got Petkovic's back where he landed still more punches. Petkovic spun out but Barrett was right there to dish out more punishment landing hammer fists and punches. Barrett put Petkovic on his back and followed up with more punishing strikes until the ref stopped the onslaught in a one-sided affair. This was a strong showing by the Champion.
In the co-main event, undefeated Levan Makashvili (6-0) defeated Tom English (4-4) via KO in round two. In round one Makashvili scored with an immediate takedown and was relentless on the top keeping English on the bottom. To English's credit, he was very active on the bottom as the two engaged in a solid grappling match looking for several submission attempts. Near the end of the round, English grabbed a heel hook, as Makashvili scored with punches to English's face in an exciting first round. In round two, these two gladiators started striking as English connected with leg kicks and Makashvili scored with a one-two punch combo. Makashvili followed it up with an overhand right that hit English flush on the jaw and knocked him out. This was a great fight and probably fight of the night as there was constant action from both fighters.
