After an unsuccessful stint in the UFC, Bernardo "Trekko" Magalhaes returned to his old stomping ground in Cronulla, Australia, on Friday night at Proud Warrior Productions (PWP) 5 where he disposed of BRACE lightweight champion Sonny Brown inside of the opening round.

Magalhaes was cut from the UFC roster earlier this year after two disappointing losses, but he made amends picking up his first ever knockout victory.

"I've been working on my boxing for a long time," Magalhaes said after the fight. "I just want to fight the best." Magalhaes looked solid in the early stages of round 1, working his jab and landed glancing blows on Brown. The damage was done in the latter stages when a Magalhaes left hand had Brown stunned and a crisp right hook was all that he needed for Magalhaes to finish off the fight, with the referee stepping in moments later, after Magalhaes warily landed ground strikes on his fallen opponent.

The win for the Brazilian born Magalhaes put an end to a two-fight losing streak, while Brown's five-fight winning streak came to a crashing halt.

Shabe Kafo Grinds Out Tough Submission Victory

It is very rare that a Shabe Kafo fight doesn't produce fireworks and PWP 5 was no exception as the fiery flyweight added another submission victory to his record, but it wasn't all one way traffic over Integrated MMA's Greg Penazola.

Kafo is known for his finishes on the ground, with his twister finish at CFC 21 becoming an internet hit. Penazola, however, was able to fend off any danger in the opening two rounds, which saw him escape from a nasty rear-naked choke attempt, as well as a twister, with many people just about to write him off.

Fighting in his home state, Kafo went back to work on the submission attempts in the final frame and it all became too much for Penazola who, after copping nasty hammer-fists, gave up his arm and Kafo made him pay, forcing the Queensland fighter to tap.

"He's very tough," Kafo said about his opponent. "I was trying to finish him with whatever I had. I almost got the twister, so watch out whoever I fight next."
