Evolution Fighting Championships 7 - Summer Bash

New Jersey's rising amateur MMA promotion, Evolution Fighting Championships, presented another terrific card with Evolution Fighting Championships 7 - Summer Bash at the Rahway Rec Center in Rahway, New Jersey. The card had 12 total fights with 3 TITLES on the line.

In the main event, Caleb Solano (4-1) won the 140 lb Evolution Fighting Championships Title by defeating former champion, Ben Syers (2-3) via split decision after three rounds. The fight was a hotly contested bout and could have gone either way, but it was Solano who had his hand raised at the end and his cardio was a big reason why. Solano and Syers both fought tooth and nail, back and forth, but Solano initiated the action a bit more, including a few submission attempts and that was what gave him the nod and the championship title.

In the co-main event, Dwayne Holman Jr. (4-2) defeated late replacement Taylor Costantino (1-1) to win the vacant 147 lb Evolution Fighting Championship Title by unanimous decision. Holman Jr. controlled the fight on the ground and in the standup and deserved the decision, but Costantino was gritty and determined throughout and deserves credit for signing to fight Holman on such short notice. This was a high-paced fight throughout the three rounds.

It was a great night for the Solano brothers as in the final title fight on the card, Ariel Solano (2-1) defeated Mike Colon (3-2) by unanimous decision to win the vacant 126 lb championship. Solano stuck to a smart game plan and was able to outbox Colon on the feet and control him on the ground enough to beat the more veteran fighter. Now the Solano brothers are champions in both the 140 lb and 126 lb divisions and will look to continue their winning ways inside of the cage.

With one quarter of the fights being for a championship on a 12-bout card, this event was a high stakes affair.
