Epic Fighting 13

"Epic Fighting 13" returned on the GFL Combat Sports Network imanating from the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego, California. The 15-bout card with 9 stoppages collected some of the deepest local talent in the country to provide the fans of SoCal and worldwide watching live on the Internet, a great night of action packed amateur fights.

In the main event, Francisco "Panchito" Castro (5-5-1) and David Lee (2-0-1) fought to a draw in a featherweight shootout. This was a rematch of "Epic Fighting 12" where Lee was the winner by split decision. The fans demanded a rematch and Castro VS Lee 2 was even closer this time as the fighters went back and forth, tit for tat throughout the whole bout. It was a tough fight to score as Castro and Lee were dead set against going to decision let alone a draw so they gave their best efforts inside of the cage. Lee controlled a lot of the fight, but Castro would attack with aggression when he was on the offense. On the ground, Lee looked for submissions while Castro was intent on doing damage with his fists. Stylistically it was a chess match and on this night, Castro and Lee were as even as you could get. Will there be a trilogy in this ongoing and classic fight series? Only time will tell.

In other action, Sean Najjar defeated Miguel Lavalle by submission in round two.

In more action, Kyle Kleinschmidt (5-1-1) and Chris Lloyd (5-1-1-1) fought to a draw in a middleweight contest. It was another great fight with lots of action on the mat and both fighters were comfortable on the ground where both looked to finish with submissions. The standup was also fun to watch as both men connected with some hard shots but also proved they have a tough chin as the strikes didn't put anyone in serious trouble. This is a bout that fans might clamor for a rematch because both Kleinschmidt and Lloyd were evenly matched and there was never a dull moment in the bout.
