Dead Serious Two

Hard hitting MMA action returned to the Rahway Rec Center in Rahway, New Jersey as Dead Serious MMA presented Dead Serious Two on the GFL Combat Sports Network. Fans got to witness a great card as 7 of the bouts ended in either KO or submission on the evenly matched 15-bout card and a tri-main event with three titles on the line.

In the main event Stephen Regman (6-2) defeated Michael Sanders (4-2) via split decision to retain his Welterweight Title. It was a bout that could have gone either way and was definitely the "fight of the night" as both Regman and Sanders gave everything they had in this championship bout. Regman got the decision off of landing cleaner shots, but Sanders always pushed ahead and set the pace for a lot of the fight. This would be a great rematch as both men showed they can impose their will in spots and with both fighters still being relatively new to MMA if they fought a second time it could be a totally different fight as they would have learned a lot from this first fight and fixed holes in their games. This main event, was a great ending to a fun night of fights.

In another title fight of the evening, Chris Sladky (3-0) defeated Jonathan Pecyna (4-3) by rear naked choke in Round 1 to win the Dead Serious Lightweight Title. The former champion Pecyna stayed true to his high throttle fighting style, but the undefeated Sladky was there to counter Pecyna's mistakes and once things hit the mat, Sladky was able to maneuver around for the fight ending choke.

Daniel Carbonel (6-6) defeated RJ Starace (3-4) to win the Dead Serious MMA Featherweight Title by triangle choke in Round 3. For Carbonel, four of his six wins have come via submission and his grappling game was what got him the victory against Starace. This bout was so evenly matched that it came down to the final round with the fight still being up for grabs. Carbonel left no doubt though as he when thing went to the ground for the final time, he transitioned to an advantageous spot, and slapped on the fighting winning triangle choke for the victory and the championship.
