Local rising star Tim Williams shocked the regional bookmakers with a stunning TKO upset victory over UFC veteran Andre Gusmao in the headlining bout of CFFC 7. The win over a man who was once a top regional prospect secures Williams' position as one of the best 185 pounders in the Mid-Atlantic. In a bout that, on paper, was supposed to be an easy comeback fight for Gusmao, Williams sought to make a statement from the opening bell. The South Jersey Strangler brought aggressive combinations and bad intentions down on Gusmao, who quickly got on his bicycle. The UFC veteran looked to counter the young action man, but the few clean counters he landed paled in comparison to the raw damage that Williams was adding up with each punch. By the end of the first frame, it was no small wonder that the once favored Gusmao was still in the game at all. But Gusmao would not go gently into that good night, fighting fire with fire in the second round. Williams faltered against his newly aggressive opponent. After being on the losing end of multiple exchanges, Williams was taken down by his veteran opponent. Gusmao stood up in guard, looking to drop bombs on the young pretender. But Williams heart stayed firmly in his chest.
