Babes and Brawls IX

Cut Throat MMA returned to action with Babes and Brawls 9 from the Atlantis Gentlemen's Club in Ford Heights, Illinois. The action packed 9-bout event had 7 finishes and was highlighted by a title fight in the light heavyweight division. Cut Throat MMA keeps churning out first-rate events and has quickly established itself as one of the top dogs in the loaded Midwest MMA scene.

In the main event, Mike O'Connor defeated Paul Amos via unanimous decision to win the vacant 205 Cutthroat MMA title. Amos had strong takedowns during the first round, but O'Connor countered with numerous submission attempts and was able to keep Amos off balance enough that Amos could not land any shots that did significant damage. As the fight wore on it was O'Conner how landed the takedowns and distanced himself from Amos on the scorecards by being the busier fighter. For O'Connor this was a great victory against and bigger opponent and showed that technique and conditioning are still the two biggest assets to bring to a cage fight.

In other action, Bryan Koza defeated Trevor Adezko by gogoplata submission in Round 1. Koza is out of the Carlson Gracie camp and his ground skills were evident from the opening bell. It was a great show of the fluidity of Jiu Jitsu and its transitions as Koza initially had Adezko trapped with a guillotine but as soon as Adezko managed to wiggle his neck free, Koza has already locked on the fight ending gogoplata.
