Asylum Fight League XXXVI

Asylum Fight League returned to the Asylum Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with its final installment of the year as Asylum Fight League XXXVI put an exclamation point on the year for AFL. The event was 2 hours of hard hitting action in both professional and amateur MMA and showed why some of the toughest fighters come from the City of Brotherly Love.

In the main event, Pat Dwyer (2-0) defeated Brian Pohlmeyer (0-3) by unanimous decision in an impressive win. Dwyer had Pohlmeyer in several tough positions throughout the fight, especially on the grappling side. Dwyer went for the finish the entire fight, but Pohlmeyer to his credit, was always able to defend the submission attempts. For Dwyer he proved in this bout he is battle-tested and ready for bigger challenges as Pohlmeyer is one of the toughest opponents on the East Coast scene. For Pohlmeyer, his record is deceiving as he has never had an easy opponent and taken on all challenges.

In another highly anticipated pro bout, Shedrick "Chocolate Thunder" Goodridge (1-1) defeated James Frier (3-3) by unanimous decision. Goodridge got the better of the standup almost immediately, but Frier weathered the storm and utilized his strong ground game to stymie Goodridge's onslaught. In the end, however, Goodridge kept up an unmatched pace inside the cage and gained the victory. Both Goodridge and Frier have great futures in the sport and in AFL.
