Absolute Action MMA 28

Kentucky's #1 MMA promotion returned as Absolute Action presented "AAMMA 28" emanating from Covington, Kentucky. The 8-bout card was a MMA fan's dream as all 8 fights ended in finishes featuring the top up and coming prospects inside Northern Kentucky and the greater Cincinnati area. AAMMA is the premier MMA organization in the Bluegrass State and one of the Southeast region's top cage-fighting promotions.

In a hotly anticipated bout, after a gritty performance by both athletes, Cody Harris (7-3) defeated James Fehring (5-1) via KO in round three for the AAMMA Welterweight Championship. Fehring was the reigning champion and the challenger needed to dig down deep to overthrow the champion, which he did in round three. In the final round, with both men exhausted and winging punches at one another, Harris threw a looping right hook that caught Fehring flush on the jaw and sent him down to the canvas. Harris followed up with a couple punches to the head and that was it. The bout was back and forth and definitely fight of the night as Harris was able to stay away from Fehring's dangerous submission game, where at one point Fehring tried for a guillotine, and Harris himself went for a rear naked choke. This bout decided who the top amateur 170 lb fighter inside of Kentucky and the greater Ohio Valley was and it's Cody Harris.

In a featured bout, Christopher Meyers (5-6) defeated Charles Stanford (7-2) via D'Arce Choke in the first round in a lightweight showdown. Meyers is a fan favorite who implements a high risk/high reward fighting style and he did just that as he saw an opening on the mat and went for it. Meyers got behind Stanford as the two grappled for positioning on their feet and was finally able to lift Stanford off his feed and plant him on the mat. While fighting for positioning on the mat, and in a scramble, Meyers wrapped his arm around Standford's neck and secured an arm as well. The two fell back on the mat with Stanford's back on the mat and as Meyer's exerted a great amount of pressure on Stanford's neck he tapped out.
