Event Description

Combat Sports Challenge returned to GFL with "CSC 39" highlighted by a hotly anticipated main event featuring a former UFC Superstar. There was a host of bone rattling knockouts as these strikers looked to take one another out in the ring and many of them did just that.

In the main event, UFC contender and former kickboxing champion Pat Barry defeated Ed "Black Rage" Burris via knockout in the second round in Barry's first kickboxing bout since 2007. Barry connected with a big overhand right that dropped the much bigger Burris in the opening seconds of round two. Burris rose to his feet before the 10-count but the ref stopped the fight as Burris had not fully recovered from the knockdown. It was a solid return fight for Barry who did what he had to do and reminded fans that his KO power is second to none. Barry added some devastating leg kicks throughout the fight as well but it was his punching power that sealed the deal. Barry gave a vintage interview after the fight and put the rest of the kickboxing world on notice that he was ready to go through whoever was in his path and destroy all opponents.

In the co-main event, Warren Thompson defeated Tim Woods via unanimous decision after three rounds of Glory rules kickboxing in the 195 lb division. Thompson was the more accurate striker and kept Woods on the defensive for a majority of the fight with his ability to throw combo after combo. Thompson used high volume striking, low kicks, push kicks, straight hands and hooks, to disrupt the offense of Woods and landed significantly more strikes throughout the bout on his way to a decisive decision.

In other action, Francois Ambang from Team Combat USA defeated Armen Saponjvan via TKO with leg kicks in the first round in a Glory rules kickboxing bout. Ambang used his explosiveness early as he scored with 3 total leg kicks the entire fight, with each more devastating than the previous. The third and final leg kick dropped Saponjvan and his leg was useless after that as he tried to get up but was unable to put any weight on it whatsoever. The speed and power of the leg strikes from Ambang where too much in this fight which sealed the fate of Saponjvan.

If you love the art of striking, there is no better iPPV for you to order than "CSC 39". Combat Sports Challenge always puts on great shows and this event will up the ante of top level Muay Thai. Order now.
