ALBUQUERQUE / NEW YORK (June 8, 2011)—In what he says was his final bout, future Hall of Famer and former five-time world champion Johnny Tapia went out in style as he scored an eight round unanimous decision over former Jr. Flyweight champion Mauricio Pastrana at the Hard Rock in Albuquerque.

Tapia, who was one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world throughout the 1990’seand early 2000’s, gave the fans what they come to expect when Tapia fights and that’s action.
Tapia controlled the fight until round six when he was controversially knocked down in round six. That did not deter the legend known as “Mi Vida Loca” closed the show in style dropping Pastrana in the final round and go on to win by scores of 77-73; 77-74 and 76-74 to finish his career with a more than impressive mark of 59-5-2 with thirty knockouts.
The show also featured an undercard that saw welterweight Hector Munoz go to 19-4 with a second round stoppage over Jorge Alberto Reyes.
Rocky Ramirez won his pro debut by scoring a second round stoppage over Eric Savadra.
In a Ladies Jr. Welterweight bout, Brenda Gonzalez scored a four round unanimous decision over Bridgette Ruiz
