ShoFight was back on GFL as it presented ShoFight 23 from Branson, Missourie. ShoFight has made its mark with MMA fans as it has been a launching point for fighters as some of the best amatuers in the Mid-South have fought on a ShoFight card. ShoFight 23 was loaded with KOs and submissions as only 2 fights went to a decision on a 10-bout card that featured 2 title fights.
In the main event, Jason Ostrowski (8-0) defeated PJ Sisco (13-5) via TKO in round one of a Heavyweight Title fight. Ostrowski and Sisco rushed at each other like a pair of bulls and wrestled in the clinch for a while until Ostrowski landed a few overhand rights that dropped Sisco. From there Ostrowski followed up on the mat by showing some strong ground and pound and landing a few more clean shots to Sisco before the ref called a halt to the bout. Ostrowski has looked like a monster inside the ShoFight cage as he won the championship back in 2011 and has defended it several times now all by TKO. Ostrowski looks to be ready to make the transition to being a professional as he doesn't have anything left to prove in the amateur ranks.
In the co-main event, Rance Foust (11-1) defeated Matt Hatley (4-2) via verbal submission in round one of a Middleweight Title bout. Foust landed a solid body kick that might have broken a rib on Hatley as Hatley then fell to the canvas where Foust followed up with some punches to the head and body, but the damage was already done from the earlier kick. Both fighters stopped the action and Hatley got to his feet and it was clear he had verbally submitted and the fight was over. Foust has held the title since 2010 and much like his victorious counterpart in the main event; Foust would be better served taking his talents to the professional ranks as he is head and shoulders above most other fighters in the amateur division.
