SPADAFORA VS. EGBERIME
Former IBF lightweight world champion Paul "The Pittsburgh Kid" Spadafora came to ring with a custom walk out song, a montage highlight video and the support of former world champions Roy Jones Jr. and Kelly Pavlik, who were amongst the celebrities in attendance.
In a competitive light welterweight contest, Spadafora 47-0-1 (19KOs) continued on his comeback trail defeating WBO #13 Solomon "Mr. Jones" Egberime 22-4-1 (11KOs) by unanimous decision. In vintage Spadafora style, he looked as sharp as ever utilizing his jab and landing straight lefts at every available opportunity. Egberime stood in front of Spadafora, pressuring the former champion but fell into "Spaddy's" throwback trap.
Both Spadafora and Egberime suffered cuts on their right eyes respectively in round nine due to accidental headbutts. Scores were 98-91, 97-94 and 100-90. "He was a tough guy. Real crafty. Real Dirty. I adjusted and won the fight." said about his opponent Egberime. "I would like to fight anyone of the top guys. Malignaggi and (Danny) Garcia. I want them all."
A sequel to their "Fight Of The Year" candidate match-up from July, super featherweight contender Monty Meza Clay 33-3 (21KOs) won his second straight eight round unanimous decision over Emmanuel Lucero 26-12-1 (14KOs). Great brutal action from start to finish. Clay started out slow in the first couple rounds, but outworked and outlanded Lucero to earn the nod. Scores were 77-75, 77-75, 80-72.
In a mild upset, Kenyan junior welterweight Peter Oluoch 12-6-2 (6 KOs) won a five round split technical decision over Jake 'The Bull' Giuriceo 16-2-1 (3 KOs) due to an accidental headbutt. Scores were 49-46, 48-47 for Oluoch and 48-47 for Giuriceo.
Undefeated super middleweight prospect Morgan Fitch 8-0 (4 KOs) made quick work of Cameron Allen (4-12, 2 KOs) winning by knockout in round one.
Bill "Hutch" Hutchinson (5-1-2, 3 KOs) won by technical knockout over Jose Caraballo (5-5, 1 KO) in the second round. Hutchinson dropped three times causing the referee to halt the action.
Former MMA fighter Joey Holt (1-0) made his professional boxing debut a successful one with a victory over Alan Moore (3-18)
