It was a great night of boxing as Teon Kennedy added the NABA Super Bantamweight championship to his trophy case that already housed the USBA title when he stopped Alex Becerra after round ten of their scheduled twelve round bout in front of a near sellout crowds at Bally’s in Atlantic City. The card was promoted by Peltz Boxing. Kennedy systematically broke down Becerra with numerous body shots and the native of Philadelphia lived up to his moniker of “The Technician” as he improved his already undefeated mark to 16-0-1 with seven knockouts. Kennedy, already ranked number four in the world by the IBF will now be ranked by the WBA and is less than a few fights away from fighting for a world championship. In the co-feature, undefeated Super Middleweight Dennis Hasson showed tremendous courage in pounding out an eight round unanimous decision over Tommie “Big Poppa” Speller in a battle of Philadelphia fighters. Hasson was cut badly around his left eye after a right hand from Speller but gathered himself and started boxing beautifully as he reined hard combinations on the body and head to the “Tough as Nails” Speller. Hasson landed many hard shots but Speller showed a terrific chin but it was Hasson who coasted to the victory by scores of 80-72 on two cards and 79-73 to raise his record to 11-0. Treysean Wiggins scored a vicious first round stoppage over late replacement Jason Sosa in a Jr. Welterweight bout Chris Green and Rashad Brown scored unanimous decision victories over DeRoy Beaton and Greg Hackett respectively while Julio DeJesus & Linwood Hurd battled to a four round draw |
