Global Boxing presents Majewski vs Mundy

This past Saturday on LIVE in Atlantic City on GFL.tv , Global Boxing brought the boxing fans of Atlantic City 7 action packed fights. The card was headlined by a rematch between Poland's Patrick Majewski (19-1) and Philadelphia, PA's Latif Mundy (10-4). Majewski, since suffering his 1st loss against Jose Miguel Torres back in November 2011, has been on a two fight winning streak defeating Antwun Echols & Chris Fitzpatrick. The battle tested Mundy came in riding a 2 fight losing streak, but is always a game opponent that looks to win.

Majewski, much like their first encounter, controlled the pace of the fight. Using a mixture of speed and power, Majewski was the aggressor throughout the fight. In the 2nd round, Majewski suffered a cut on the left eye that caused the blood to stream down his face. Mundy tried to take advantage of the cut at times but Majewski refused to bend and refused to let Mundy take control. Throughout the fight Mundy showed that he was there to win but could not take control of the fight from the crafty Polish fighter.

Much like the pair's first encounter the fight went the distance and was placed in the hands of the Judges. The 3 judges scored the fight 100-90, 98-92, and a very questionable 95-95 in favor of Poland's Patrick Majewski who moved to (20-1). With a win, Majewski continues to move up the ranks of a very stacked Middleweight division. Majewski seems to be about 2-3 fights away from challenging for one of the titles in his division. With a loss, Mundy moves to 10-5 and is forced to take a second look at his career. Mundy is the type of guy who never just shows up for a paycheck but after receiving a 3rd straight loss could send him back to the drawing board.

In the co-feature of the evening aging fringe contender Shamone Alavarez of Atlantic City battled hometown rival DeCarlos Perez. In the build up to the fight you could tell their was no love loss between these two men. Perez came on ATG Radio this past Wednesday claiming he was out to stop Alvarez and hurling insults in his direction.

Alvarez came out swinging and seemed to hurt Perez with the first punch of the fight. After taking the 1st round from the younger Perez the aging veteran seemed to fade losing control in the 2nd round. Perez took control of the fight in the second and backed up his words on ATG Radio ( www.atgradio.com ) in the 3rd round. Towards the end of the 3rd round, Perez hurt Alvarez badly and began to batter him around the ring. Finally after landing a flush uppercut and left combo the referee stepped in and called a halt to the action awarding Perez the TKO victory at the 2:01 mark. Perez moves to 8-2-1 while Alvarez drops to 21-6.

In what I felt was the "Fight of the Night" Emanuel Colon went to war with Philadelphia's Hasan Young. Both men traded powerful shot throughout the entire fight but it was Colon seemed to be securing every round with his aggressive restlessness style. Throughout the fight Young was very game but in the 4th round was unable to answer a barrage of punches by Colon forcing the ref to stop the fight at the 2:23 mark. With the TKO victory, Colon moves to 3-0 while Young drops to 1-1-1.

Poland's Patryk Szymanski spoiled the Pro Debut of hometown fighter Adrian Wilson. Szymanski dominated the fight beating the very timid Wilson to the punch throughout the fight. Wilson seemed unwilling to engage which allowed Szymanski to dominated all 4 round en route to a 4 Round Unanimous Decision in which the Judges scored it 40-36 x 2 & 40-35. Szymanski moves to 2-0 while Wilson drops to 0-1.

In what resembled a "Man vs. Boy" battle, Poland's Michal Chudecki made his pro debut against a High School Senior by the name of Moses Molina. Chudecki breezed through the first 2 rounds against the vastly over matched Molina. Finally in the 3rd round, Chudecki battered Molina enough to the point where the referee stepped in and called a halt to the action at the 1:55 mark. Chudecki moves to 1-0 while Molina drops to 1-1. In the opening bout of the evening Terrell James overcame a tough 1st round in his pro debut against Anthony Prescott to win a Unanimous Decsion. The Judges scored the fight 39-37 across the board. James moves to 1-0 while Prescott drops to 1-1.
